THANKSGIVING CELEBRATION: It's thanksgiving celebration all around, thought would start my second post with gratitude.I thought after doing a short prayer let's thank the people in my life who have unknowningly taught me the meaning of life. I am really grateful to these persons for their smaller acts of kindness made me think bigger in life. I have developed this habit of secretively thanking people in my diary way before 2002. The second time it was on 20th February 2002 and then it is still continued. Ofcourse, there is a huge list and I somehow figured a way to put them in order i.e., an alphabetical order(Guess, that's the common way of organizing things!!). This list doesn't include my parents, my other immediate family members and my friend for life Suresh as no words of mine can thank them for their love and I remain indebted to them throughout my life.Well, this list also includes two unknown persons, it's not that I don't want to name them, but it is that I don't know them at all and still they have helped me. These incidences may seem foolish or silly now, but they were really important for me then and have touched my heart and are one of my finest memories so far. Whenever I feel low or disappointed I think of these good memories, and they really make me smile, feel good and happy. God has always helped me whenever I needed him. Ofcourse, not in a divine form but in the form of a human being. It has made me believe God is everywhere, in each one of us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!So the first name shud obviously start with A, and let me start now.
ABOLI: She is my sister-in-law, my friend, my neighbor, All in one!!She was the one, I used to reach first for sleepovers more or less like nightouts (as we hardly used to stop talking to allow ourselves to sleep)!! My great parents, thought that I can be left alone in a 5 room big, scarry house so that they can run away to my sis's place or bro's place. In no way I can thank Aboli for her support and companionship in those innumerable scarry nights. Though, we used to scare each other with all those horror stories to discuss throughout the night!! Thanks Aboli, thanks a lot!!!!!!
CHAITANYA: My colleague at office(TWWI) and now a friend: He helped me in many ways. The most important one was accompanying me to the airport to bid farewell to Sachin (my hubby). It was a precious moment of my life. My hubby was going abroad. It was a kind of feeling when u feel both good and bad. It is not always that u get that feeling in life, feeling both terribly gud and terribly bad! And Chaitanya was there with me giving me the support I needed. He took care of me till Sachin came back. Many many thanks to you, Chaitanya!! May god help you too!!!
DIPTI: She was my B.Sc collegemate and a dear friend now. She helped me in many ways. She was almost like an ideal girl. Beautiful, hard-working, kind-hearted and everything that an ideal girl will have! I had to walk a lot of distance from my degree college to go to my music college, a walk of say 20-25 mts and this girl used to walk with me till there, just to give me company and talk with me, leaving her house behind. She also helped me by completing my records of Zoology and Microbiology, she drew almost 25% of the diagrams for my records. Thank you so much, Dipti. I really miss our college days!!!!
GEETHA (Aurora college's stats lecturer): She helped me by teaching stats i.e., my toughest paper Biometry in M.Sc on honorary basis. She was introduced to me by my Zoology lecturer at plus two. I was so dumb in math especially in stats, but still she was very kind, polite and frank with me. It just becoz of her I passed in that paper, otherwise I wud have failed badly in that. I really like her teaching and feel that she is a very good teacher. She also helped me by introducing to two of her colleagues for other subjects. Thank you Geetha, wherever u r , may God bless u and shower upon u the kindness u showed for others!!!!!!!!
HENRIETTA (HENRY, as I call her): My aerobic class friend at Dinaz. She helped in participating the final function of summer program by paying Rs 200 for me which I cudn't afford at that time. She also tried to help me by giving a job in her bro's company and she herself made my resume for it and gave the printouts to me. Her house was too far from mine and she dropped me twice to my home. She always tries to boost my morale and lifts up my mood, giving me the courage, the confidence, the emotional support which I really need at times. I really feel lucky to have met her in my life. May God help you too, Henry. Thank you, thank you so much!!!
JYOTHI: My sister-in-law. We share a different kind of relation which I think I cannot name it. Neither we are very close nor we are very far with each other. But, it has always been a different and good feeling whenever I am with her. She used to help by accompanying me to the market whenever I was afraid to go alone. Giving company to someone when they need it most, I think that's one of the best help a person can do. Thanks Jyothi!!!
JYOTHI(Mol. Bio. Lecturer at Koti women's college): She taught me the difficult topics in molecular biology. She made prinouts to make the topics clear and easy to understand, just for me. She didn't knew me before she taught me, she was introduced to me by Aurora's lecturer. Thank you so much, Jyothi. I really can't forget ur kind help!
KEDAR: My childhood buddy, my sweet little bro(as I think of him), my neighbor: He helped me a lot in my studies especially in Chemistry (the mystery still I cudn't solve!!) in my B.Sc. I give the whole credit of my success in Chemistry to kr(as I call him). It is just because of him I passed in Chemistry. I used to trouble him with so many doubts like y is this theory like this? y it is not like this? as if he postulated them, but he, poor fellow, sometimes used to get angry but most of times used to be patient with me, teaching me all that even he didn't study before. I mean he was in his plus two and I was in second year of my graduation. ha ha ! kr is really a sweetheart to me and will remain so forever! I share all my sorrows and happiness with him though he gets bored at times!! ha ha. Thanks Kr! Thank you for being such a wonderful person!
KODARKAR MA'M: My Zoology lecturer at plus two. She is so kind and helping that it touched my heart very deeply. She has helped me in so many ways that I can't even list them here in this small space. She introduced me to Geetha for stats. She introduced me to Karyakarte coaching centre. My first job as a tuition teacher. Whatever I earned it there I owe it to her. She has always been a guiding star to me!! Ma'm, I miss u so much and eager to meet u soon! Thank you , thank you so much for your love, your support and your kindness!!
KANYAKUMARI MA'M (Sanskrit lecturer at Aurora college): She helped me by introducing me to Jyothi (Lecturer at Koti). It was immaterial to her to help me. She saw me struggling to learn when I was with Geetha. Since then, she was thinking to help me and she did by introducing me to Jyothi. Thank you ma'm, thanks a ton!!
KAVITA: My sister-in-law's sister-in-law, my friend and my neighbor: Though she must have forgotten it by now but I remember. It was the first time she helped me when we were just new to each other. It was the time of Ganesh Utsav and we were dancing in the cultural function. I was wearing Vandu's jeans for a dance and had to give it back to her for her next dance (exchange of clothes) and suddenly the zipper broke making it impossible to wear. Luckily, Kavita was there and she gave her jeans to Vandu for the next dance. It was such a moment of panic for us, thank god, Kavita helped us! This may seem so silly or foolish now, but it was so important then. Thank you, Kavita. Thanks a lot!! Though you must have helped me in many ways after this incident, but this incident is registered in my diary!!
KOMAL: My cousin sister-in-law. I used to admire her for her simplicity. She was so simple yet good looking! It was the time when sleeveless dresses weren't allowed for girls. So, I didn't have any. I wanted to wear it and I asked Komal for her sleeveless dresses. She never denied it. It was the first time, I wore someelse dress other than my sisters. I liked those dresses of Komal and thanked her a lot for giving them to me. Thank you, Komal!!!
MALINI: Dinaz's aerobic studio's receptionist. She helped me to get admission in Dinaz's aerobic classes free of cost. She spoke to Dinaz on behalf of me for waiving off the course fee. It was the first time in Dinaz's history as per what they said that someone was given a favor like that. Malini, so sweet of you! We didn't know each other but u still helped me to join the class. I don't know the reason behind ur help but I am really thankful to you. It's becoz of you I cud be a part of Dinaz. Thanks Malini!!!
MEENA MA'M: My tailoring teacher! She is filled with so much of love and patience. I liked her very much and wud still love to learn from her. She taught me so well and never got angry over me for my silliest doubts. Ma'm, thank you so much. I owe you the knowledge I have in tailoring!
NAMBIAR SIR (Head of Dept of Genetics at Aurora college): Introduced to me by Geetha. He helped me by giving me books to read from his library, though I was not from his college or not even his student. He also gave me materials useful for studies. He guided me in the right direction(for studying and clearing my exams). He taught me a problem on Linkage in Genetics which came in the final examination. Thank you very much, Sir. I am so glad to have met you!
OWNERS (Mr.Raman Iyengar and his wife at Mylapore, Chennai): I am thankful to them for the warm welcome they gave me when I first time entered my hubby's house at Chennai after my marriage. The house was beautifully decorated with Rangoli designs, especially for us. I was not welcomed like this before anywhere. It was really out of the way, I don't think anyone's owner must have done like this before. I really thank them for their love. Thank you, aunty n thank you, uncle!!
REVATHI MA'M: She was my Chemistry lecturer at plus two. She helped me in many ways too. I used to go to her house to study for my exams. She also helped me by giving me books from the British Library. Everytime she used to renew them for me or get new books for me, she never made me feel that I am disturbing her or troubling her in any way. She was so polite and kind. As I was poor in Chemistry, she used to boost me by saying that 'Not everyone can have the same capabilities, all are different and will have different capabilities'. She also introduced me to Vivek Coaching centre. My second job as a tuition teacher. Thank you so much for your help ma'm. May god help you too!!!
RAGHU & ROHINI: My childhood buddies. They helped me by introducing me to Sameekha(a small firm). I was the content writer. I earned Rs. 3000 within just 2 months by writing 8-10 lessons. I used to work from home and that too not every day. It was something like work less and earn more!! Thank you, Raghu n thank you, Rohini!!
RAJESH: My cousin sister-in-law's hubby, my neighbor. I remember Rajesh's help at the time of my sister's marriage. He helped us in carrying our lugguage. He also helped us another time when the wind blew our garrage roof and the vehicles were fallen down. Just my sister and myself were there to lift the tin roof and the heavy vehicles. Rajesh helped us at that time when we needed someone! This was something out of the way help and thus it's a part of my diary!! Thank you, Rajesh!
SHAILAJA MA'M: My Botany lecturer at plus two. She was a good teacher and she also helped me by giving books from her library when I was doing my PG. Without those books I wud never have passed my exams!!!!! She also offered me a job in her college too. Thank you ma'm. Thanks a lot!!
SANDHYA: My music college classmate. This girl came to my house all the way from her far off house to give me books and syllabus to study. So sweet of her! Thank you, Sandhya!! Hope u have become a classical singer by now!!!
SHWETA: My music college classmate. She used to teach me the 'ragas' for which I was absent. She was such a good singer and never was proudish. She was simple and sweet and very much helpful but I was jealous of her voice as she was first in our class and I was second. Thank you, Shweta. Wherever u are may god bless u!!!!
VANDANA: My cousin sister-in-law, my childhood friend, my school and college mate, my neighbor. Vandu(as I call her) was my closest companion till my plus two. Same school, same class, same college, same lane, same sport but different tastes!!! She was always there in my all good and bad times till plus two. The most important thing for which I want to thank her is, for the various styles she used to dress my hair up. It was the time when long hair was fashion and both of us have had and still have short hair. She used to plait her hair and I also wanted my hair to be plaited, and she never denied me. Thank you Vandu!! Out of all our good memories this one is very close to my heart and believe me, it's the first entry in my diary!!!!!
VANITA: My cousin sister-in-law and Vandu's sis. Vanita, also helped plaiting my hair after Vandu but there's another important entry of her help in my diary. She helped me by relieving my pain in neck. It was exam time and my neck became numb suddenly, I was crying with pain and called her for help and she massaged my neck. I didn't think of calling my sister or my mom or anyone else, strange!!! It was Vanita, who helped me and remain in my memory for the lifetime. She must have helped me 'n' number of times but this was something unusual. Thank you, Vanita, thanks a million!!!
VENGAMMA & MADHAVI: My M.Sc. classmates. I thank them for being my friends during M.Sc. We spent a lot of time together studying, making notes, watching movies together. Whatever good memory of my M.Sc I have is all because of them. Thank you Vengu(as I call her) and thanks Madhu(as I call her).
VIJAYALAKSHMI & MAMATHA: My B.Ed classmates. We used to do combined studies at my place and that was the best time in my B.Ed college life. We enjoyed each other's company and have spent a little time together but a quality time!!! They've even come to drop me to the railway station at Kachiguda far off from their houses at ECIL. This was something out of the way!! Hey, thanks both of u!!!!!!!!
UNKNOWN PERSON 1: This man helped me by taking my bus ticket of Rs 2. We didn't even knew each other. I didn't have change(coins) then and the conductor was asking for change and I had to get down at the next stop. Not only he guided me the way but he paid for my trip to Sameer dada's house in Chennai. I just can't forget this small gesture of kindness. I keep thinking that there are good people on this earth!!!!
UNKNOWN PERSON 2: I thank this person for he himself waived to me and informed me that the train is not going to come on the platform no.2 on which I was standing. He asked me to come to platform no.1. This was something unusual and out of the way help. It was not his job to do so, but he felt like helping me at that late night hour in Chennai. It may seem silly to many but it is was so important for me then. I was new to Chennai and it was my first day at office and I had to go back home, it was already late and I think that was the last train or so(of which I am not sure) and I had to meet my hubby before he leaves for his night shift. I didn't have mobile to contact him at that time. I just think how long I wud have waited on that empty platform if that person wudn't have told me!! Thanks to that person and a trillion times thanks to God!!
All these incidences have made me think and believe that there is some kindness in each and every human being. It is just we have to look for it. A lot of people come in and go out of our lives but a few really make u think, think bigger, think out of the way to help others!!!!! I feel so lucky to have had all these people in my life. I believe it's not that by saying thanks or sorry, I have done my duty or I have become small or big in life. It was my heartfelt wish to thank everyone who gets registered in my book of life!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Will keeping adding to this list as and when needed!!
